Whether you're new to modeling or already gaining experience, knowing the right behavior on and off set is key to building a strong career. At NVE Agency, we believe professionalism is just as important as talent. Here’s a helpful list of do’s and don’ts every model should keep in mind.
✅ DO's
1. Be On Time
Punctuality shows respect for everyone’s time—photographers, makeup artists, stylists, and clients. Arriving early also gives you time to get comfortable with the space.
2. Take Care of Your Health
Your body is your tool. Maintain a healthy diet, get enough rest, stay active, and care for your skin, hair, and nails.
3. Be Prepared
Bring your essentials: comp cards, proper clothing/shoes (as requested), water, and light makeup for touch-ups. Always read the call sheet ahead of time.
4. Stay Professional
Be polite and respectful on set. Listen to direction, work well with others, and keep personal issues off the job. Good attitude = repeat bookings.
5. Keep Your Portfolio Updated
Make sure your portfolio reflects your current look and includes a variety of styles. A strong portfolio is your best tool to book jobs.
6. Ask Questions if You’re Unsure
If something is unclear, speak up. It’s better to clarify than to make a mistake or feel uncomfortable.
❌ DON'Ts
1. Don’t Arrive Unprepared
Never show up late, without your requested items, or not knowing what the shoot is about. It leaves a bad impression.
2. Don’t Be Overly Self-Critical
Confidence is key. Learn from feedback, but don’t be too hard on yourself. Every model grows with time.
3. Don’t Break Contract Rules
Always read contracts carefully. If you're unsure about the terms, ask your agent or a trusted professional before signing anything.
4. Don’t Be Unprofessional on Social Media
What you post online reflects your brand. Avoid posting anything that could harm your reputation or relationship with clients and agencies.
5. Don’t Touch or Alter Your Look Without Notice
Big changes—like cutting your hair or getting tattoos—should always be discussed with your agency first. Clients book you based on how you look now.
6. Don’t Forget It’s a Business
Modeling may look glamorous, but it’s still a job. Treat it seriously, show up ready to work, and respect everyone involved in the project.
Staying professional, prepared, and positive can take you far in the modeling world. By following these simple do's and don’ts, you’ll build a reputation that opens doors.
