Here at NVE Agency, we believe that good manners and professionalism are just as important as a strong walk or great photos. Model etiquette can make a huge difference in how clients, photographers, and agencies see and remember you.
DO: Be On Time
Punctuality shows respect for everyone’s time. Whether it’s a casting, fitting, or shoot, being on time (or early!) proves you’re reliable and serious about your work.
DON’T: Be Late Without Notice
If something unexpected happens, communicate with your agency or client as soon as possible. Silence can come off as careless.
DO: Come Prepared
Always bring your essentials: comp card, heels, nude undergarments, minimal makeup, and a positive attitude. Arriving ready makes you stand out as a professional.
DON’T: Expect Others to Provide Everything
While stylists and makeup artists will help you get the look, don’t expect them to cover for you if you forget key basics. Being prepared is part of your responsibility.
DO: Be Respectful to Everyone
Treat everyone—regardless of their role on set—with kindness. From assistants to photographers, showing respect leaves a lasting impression and builds your reputation.
DON’T: Be Dismissive or Rude
The fashion world is smaller than you think. Bad attitudes spread fast. Stay humble, even when you're on a high-profile job.
DO: Take Direction Well
Be open to feedback. Listen carefully to photographers, stylists, and directors. Taking direction shows that you’re adaptable and easy to work with.
DON’T: Argue or Take Things Personally
Not every comment is a critique of you. Sometimes direction is just about the creative vision. Stay calm and professional throughout.
DO: Stay Off Your Phone
When you’re on set, stay focused. Using your phone while working can seem unprofessional and distracting.
DON’T: Post Without Permission
Never share behind-the-scenes content unless you’ve been told it’s okay. Many shoots have confidentiality agreements. Always ask first.
DO: Follow Up with Gratitude
A simple thank-you message to a client or photographer goes a long way. It shows appreciation and helps build long-term relationships.
Etiquette might sound simple, but it’s a powerful tool for long-term success in the modeling industry. Talent gets you in the door, but professionalism keeps you working.
